In other countries the drinking age is sixteen or there isn't a drinking age at all. In America our drinking age is twenty-one. When kids from other countries come to America to be foreign exchange students, they always talk about how they start drinking at such a young age. Other countries aren't known as having a drinking problem or having issues with drinking. Americans on the other hand definitely have a problem with alcohol and becoming alcoholics. I find it to be interesting that the drinking age is younger, yet the countries seem to have less of a problem.
If America lowered the drinking age I feel like it would definitely lower the amount of adults turning into alcoholics. Granted every country is going to have those few people that are going to abuse the powers of the small age limit, but overall it would create a difference in America. It's just very intriguing that the younger the age limit is to drink, the less amount of a problem is. I don't know if it's because so many people wait to drink and then just drink a very large amount in a small time and enjoy the unknown feeling so they want to do it more often? Or if it's just because we're Americans who think that we're invincible? Either way I find it weird that America has one of the oldest drinking ages, but we seem to have a large problem with alcohol.

Teeth?
Last night I went to get some pictures taken with my brother because my mom wanted some professional pictures of us done. We had our appointment at 7:20 and didn't start getting our pictures taken until about 8 o' clock! Then as we were sitting there taking pictures, I was wondering why do people smile in pictures? I was sitting there with my legs bending and my arms in awkward positions, and just moved my lips and such just to show the man behind the flashing camera my teeth. Teeth are just white small rectangular and square things that attach to the top and bottoms of your gums. There's nothing too special about them, except they make it easier to eat and I suppose they make people look happier. Is the only reason people smile in pictures to make them look happier? That's silly. I was uncomfortable and felt awkward, but yet I still opened up my mouth up to smile. People should just look the way that they feel when they get their pictures taken. It's weird to think that people just want to show their weird teeth to people.

Today as I was driving to school, I was just listening to some music and gradually tapping my breaks to obey the bright red sign that I was approaching. Within a few more minutes, I glanced over to my right to see another red sign that I was going to need to stop at. As I was sitting at these red signs, I was wondering why people even pay attention to them. They are just metal signs on a metal post telling people what to do or even where to go. It doesn't make sense to me.
Lets be honest, people listen to signs and lights better then they listen to people these days. When nobodies around most people still stop at stop signs or yield when it's necessary. If someone told you not to eat the last cookie on the counter, there's a pretty good chance that you would still eat it anyways. People just don't like to listen to other people... It's not that they don't know how to, they just don't want to. It amazes me how people pay attention and obey what signs and those great big green directional rectangles say.

Well, I'm not good at this. I don't know what to write in here, so I'm just going to wing it. My name is Kaitlyn Nathem and I'm currently the editor of the Vox at Marion High School. My blog will be just random little thoughts that i come up with throughout my day, so if you're interested in getting to learn what goes inside my head, then defintiely check out my blog on a daily basis. :) Class will be ending soon, so i suppose this is the end of my first post.
